Trustee Quintin “King” Doromal passes away at 82

Quintin “King” Doromal of the MFI Foundation Board of Trustees passed away last Friday, April 30 in a vehicular accident. He was 82.

The Harvard-educated trustee was president of Siliman University in Dumaguete City from 1972 to 1983, and was commissioner of the Presidential Commission on Good Government from 1986 to 1989. Prior to that, Doromal worked 22 years in Procter and Gamble Philippines, retiring in 1973 as its director of personnel.

According to reports, Doromal and two companions boarded a taxi from the Cosmopolitan Church on Taft Avenue. He was in the front passenger seat of the cab when the driver made an illegal U-turn and their cab was hit by a bus. With broken ribs and punctured lungs, he was immediately brought to nearby Philippine General Hospital. Aside from his injuries, his condition was further complicated by a heart attack.

Doromal is survived by wife Pearl, and children Quintin Jr., Norman, David, and Melanie Grace. He was buried in Manila Memorial Park.
